Topps Walking Dead Card Trader Review

Topps Walking Dead Card Trader is their latest Android and iOS app. In the card trading lineup from Topps is currently Bunt(baseball), Huddle(football), Kick(Soccer), and Star Wars Card Trader. Walking Dead Card Trader covers the televisions shows Walking Dead as well as Fear the Walking Dead.

The Cards

In Walking Dead Card Trader, you collect digital cards. Each day you receive 25,000 free coins to spend on cards. You can also download games and other apps to receive free coins if you wish or you can outright buy them for cash to spend on cards just like you would spend cash in a store for physical cards. You’ll need to register a user name to keep your cards, but once you do all the cards are yours unless you trade them to someone else. Each day the app releases new special card inserts to go along with the base sets of cards. There’s several different sets to collect and fun inserts to try and pull from packs of cards. The base cards do get tiring after time, it’s the inserts which make the game fun.

Trading

The heart of Walking Dead Card Trade is trading cards with other players. This is easy to do through the “fan” chat system, but is difficult for new players as you simply won’t have any cards that people want. If you manage to pull an insert, you might want to trade that for cards you really want. it’s better to play the game for a few weeks until you have a nice set of cards that you can trade for cards you’re looking for. Many traders also ask for too much so you have to be careful about who you trade with. You can accept and decline trades with ease through the system and you can also do blind trades where you pick people that have the cards you want and send them offers. I recommend you stay away from this as it just tends to annoy people. You’re better off trading with someone that is already on line and ready to trade. Since there’s so many cards in the game, trading is going to be your main option to get the cards you really want.

Pay to Play

While you do get free coins each day and can buy packs, you’ll find a lot of the quality cards will cost you money. You can trade for these, but it’s difficult. Many of the sought after cards cost cash and if you just want to play for fun without investing any cash, you’re going to find it hard to pick up these quality inserts. A lot of the nicer cards end up being pay only or drop so rarely that you’ll never get them without an investment in these cards. You can be a free player, but at some point you’re going to end up spending a bit of cash for cards. This is the model for these card trading apps so get used to paying for cards or working hard to try and trade for them with other people.

Is Walking Dead Card Trader Worth It?

For fans of the Walking Dead as well as Fear the Walking dead, this card trader app is a lot of fun. There’s tons of cards to collect and great inserts to own. The game is basically pay to play, but you can do fine without paying if you’re a savvy trader.  You’ll find new stuff to collect each day so it’s worth checking in each day to get your free coins and to see if there’s a new set you might want to collect. The game has a few stability issues at least on Android, and crashes every so often so it needs a bit of work.
